Government of Odisha is organizing the next edition of Make in Odisha Conclave from 11th-15th November, 2018 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Textiles is one of the focus sectors for the State. During the Conclave, a session on ‘ Odisha a Hub for Value Added Textiles’ is planned which is scheduled for 13 November 2018 (10.30 AM-12.30 PM) at Baitarani Hall, Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The objective of the session is to showcase potential of the State in Textiles manufacturing and to explore investment opportunities. Smt. Snehagini Chhuria, Hon’ble Minister of Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts, Government of Odisha will be the Chief Guest of the Sectoral Session.
Odisha is famous for its Handloom and Handicrafts particularly “Katki Saree”, “Sambalpuri Saree”, various Silk Sarees, Tassar Saree, Tie-dye, Bomkai, Khanduas,” furnishing and Handicrafts. Odisha is rich in Cotton and Silk Textiles with abundant availability of Cotton and Silk in the State. Out of the four types of Silk viz. Mulberry, Tassar, Eri and Muga cultivated in India, three types namely Mulberry, Tassar & Eri culture is practiced in Odisha. Odisha is one of the largest producers of hand woven silk. Odisha is one of the largest producers of cotton as well in the country.
The session would be attended by leading industry players from apparel, made-ups and technical textiles segments. Also, Senior Officers of the Central and State Government have been invited to participate in the session as Guest of Honour. The State Government is fully committed for development of the sector and has launched the Apparel Policy.
Representatives from the industry involved across the value chain of Textiles manufacturing are welcome to attend and participate in the celebrations.
